As I have spent the past
two years in the new type of drag racing invented in the Balkans called
"streetrace"
(classes are based upon time challenge), I've decided to make a car that
could compete in the 2008 season of the streetrace championships.
Idea is to use LPG as fuel.
As
a 505 fan, I stumbled upon one of the only two 505 Turbo's ever imported
to former Yugoslavia. Its a 1989 model with ABS. I found it
sitting in a garage for more than 5 years since it had an electrical
problem no one could fix, so it came cheap. As my knowledge and
experience in mechanics is at the bottom of my list of interests, and
after the mandatory metal works and a paint job, I turned for help to a
friend of mine who is a mechanic. 505
Turbo time for quarter-mile drag is 16,5 seconds. I need 15
seconds. We want it
to run on a LPG sequential
injection kit.
We will use its standalone fuel system ECU to do the mapping since we
have the software for it as sponsorship. Probably
most of you are wondering why LPG. Main reason is its oktane count
of 110, its characteristics and especially its temperature of -43C
degrees. It should do wonders in the summer when nearly all of the
racing is done. |
